Deutsche Hypo attaches importance to improving the Bank’s eco-efficiency by reducing resources, energy and emissions. The procurement of the new headquarters at the end of 2014 has enabled Deutsche Hypo to increase its energy efficiency considerably. The new building achieves big improvements in the Bank’s eco-efficiency, as strict sustainability standards were adhered to in its construction. In June 2016, the building received a “platinum” certification by the German Sustainable Building Council (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen e.V.). In addition, the targets of the Energy Saving Regulation (Energieeinsparverordnung) in 2011, the year in which the building was planned, were beaten by 15%. Since 1 January 2016, Deutsche Hypo has procured power from renewable sources for its headquarters in Hanover. At present, Deutsche Hypo has not defined any additional reduction targets since the bank as a service provider has no other options available.
