Key Performance Indicators to criteria 11 to 12

Key Performance Indicator G4-EN1
Materials used by weight or volume. Link

This performance indicator is of little relevance for a service company in the finance sector. Only the consumption of paper is considered to be meaningful. Paper consumption in 2015 totalled 13 t. All of the paper purchased – printing paper, copying paper and envelopes (85% of the total paper purchased) -– was marked with sustainability labels. Because all externally-printed publications of Deutsche Hypo are printed by climate-neutral means on FSC-certified paper, 100% of the paper consumed has a sustainability label.

Key Performance Indicator G4-EN3
Energy consumption within the organisation. Link

Heating energy consumption for the company building (including sub-leased areas) totalled around 441,000 kWh in 2015 (previous year: 450,000 kWh), while power consumption totalled 840,000 kWh (655,000 kWh). Some of the consumption data is distorted by Deutsche Hypo's acquisition of a new building in November 2014, due both to the remainder of the construction work in the new building and to the differing standards in the former buildings. The sub-leases have resulted in 100 additional employees being included in the consumption data.

Key Performance Indicator G4-EN6
Reduction of energy consumption. Link

Deutsche Hypo's overall direct and indirect energy consumption was reduced by 9.5% when compared to the same period in the previous year.

Key Performance Indicator G4-EN8
Total water withdrawal by source. Link

Water consumption in 2015 came to 2,619 m3 (previous year: 6,148 m3). This water is drinking water from the public water supply. Some of the consumption data is distorted by Deutsche Hypo's acquisition of a new building in November 2014, due both to the remainder of the construction work in the new building and to the differing standards in the former buildings. The sub-leases have resulted in 100 additional employees being included in the consumption data.

Key Performance Indicator G4-EN23
Total weight of waste by type and disposal method. Link

Waste by type and method of disposal in 2015:
• Recycling: 8 t (previous year: 9 t)
• Incineration: 11 t (previous year: 15.2 t)

Reusable materials are recycled as far as possible. Hazardous waste is disposed of as required by law. Waste is separated strictly at Deutsche Hypo’s sites. Containers for organic waste, packaging and residual waste have been installed at central locations for this purpose.
